Beaches

Running along the entire coastline of the province of Tarragona , for some 211 kilometers (131 miles), from Cunit to as far as Les Cases d'Alcanar , is a chain of heavenly beaches and striking cliffs, along with beautiful pine-covered headlands. The beaches are the very reason why a great extent of the world has discovered this small part in Spain . The beaches are visited by millions of people from all over Europe every year. The sand is fine, the water is crystal clear and balmy, and the lifestyle is just what you will yearn for when on holiday escape. The beaches are also the favorite leisure area of the locals. During the summer months, the beaches are crammed with families and people of all ages, from morning until night.

Tarragona is located at the south of Spain in Catalonia; one of the places in southern Spain where it has plenty of beaches. Just like Tenerife in the Canary Islands, also one of the summer destinations of the country. To get to these places, it is easy and accessible, if you are from Barcelona; there are vuelos Barcelona Tenerife that are always available and so as other flights going to Tarragona and so on.

Arabassada Beach

The Arabassada Beach is one of Tarragona s most popular beaches. Just a short walk or bus ride from the city center, Arabassada has become a preferred spot for the younger crowd of Tarragona as well as a pinnacle spot for tourists visiting the area. Volleyball nets are available and put in place at the rear part of the beach throughout the summer months. And because of the rock-strewn Tarragona coastline, it is always a popular place to take a walk.

Cala Crancs

Cala Crancs is located on the east side of Salou s beaches and is considered as one of the most attractive. It is a rather tiny beach (only 50 meters long) bound by rocks on both sides. Although it is a concealed coast, it is still a favorite of locals and tourists among all the beaches of Salou . If you are searching for a small cove away from some of the crowds, this could be the perfect alternative for you. Cala Crancs can be reached by taking the Faro de Salou road and Pins de Cintet Street in the Urbanizaci N .

Cala Font
Cala Font Beach is named after a natural spring which used to dispense chilly refreshing water into this small cove. Unfortunately, the spring has stopped its flow in the recent years. This is another one of Salou s minor public beaches . It is only 70 meters long, yet it still upholds space for the people who take the time to get off the more trodden trail. This beach may be reached through the Les Dunes street.

Capellans Beach

Capellans Beach is a small beach of about 200 meters long and may be reached through Bruselles street. Rocky cliffs encircle this coast on any side, giving this much-loved beach a great environment. The turquoise lucid waters will make you crave to stay forever. This beach is a good location to take the whole family.

Penya Tallada Beach

Penya Tallada Beach is another of Salou s small, "back to nature" kind of coasts. It is a wonderful small beach, only 125 meters long, and can be found off the road of the same name.

Llarga Beach
The Llarga Beach is one of the more fine-looking beaches to be found in Salou . The 600-meter coast is lined with attractive pine trees providing this beach a finicky ambience. It is a fairly lengthy stretch, as its name suggests, but still maintains the feel of a smaller beach. It has not been developed like many of the foremost beaches in Salou and so it still has a natural feel to it. It is furnished with essential facilities, but not in an overloaded sense which would somehow ruin the natural vibe that it strives to achieve. This beach may be reached by going through Replanells Street, off the Salou - Tarragona coast road.

Playa Larga

The Playa Larga or "Long Beach" is the seaside with all the modern facilities and services. Whether you fancy first-class Spanish dish and red wine on the beach, or an exciting day of jet skiing with friends, you will come across all these at Playa Larga . This is the most popular local beach in the vicinity and is big enough to provide a modest area to have fresh air when searching for a private space to be away from the frantic crowd. This is surely a place worth visiting before you conclude your stay in Tarragona .

Llenguadets Beach

Llenguadets Beach is ideal for those yearning to trudge into a more unscathed location. This coast is only reachable by foot, thus keeping the number of tourists low. In this way, the superb tranquil setting of the beach is maintained. It is a very picturesque, natural and dirt free beach. Although it is fairly small beach (only 125 meters), it does have amenities for those who prefer to take the hike. The beach can only be reached on foot through Tortosa street.

Llevant Beach

Llevant Beach is the longest (with 1,200 meters of beautiful shores) and the most popular beach in Salou . In the previous decades, this area was considered as the Men s Beach. During the summer months, this beach is jam-packed with people from just about every location on the globe. All facilities are available in this part of the beach. Anyone can take pleasure here: enjoy a hearty lunch, sip a few ice cold drinks, participate in beach sports and then take a cool plunge in the stunning Mediterranean sea, without having to travel all over the resort. The beachfront boardwalk has also been modernized, providing this coastline an aesthetically contemporary, truly satisfying scenario.

Playa Miragla

Playa Miragla is the beach closest to the center of the city. It has achieved a reputable status for its expediency and is a pleasant coast in its own right. Although it is not prosperous with the fine white sand that the other Tarragona beaches have, it is positioned next to the " Puerto Deportivo " which is a great place for various ice cream flavor treats or even just an ice cold drink. There are newly installed facilities that will make this pleasant beach even more worthy for a visit.

Ponent Beach

Ponent Beach is one of Salou s largest beaches and is situated just at the west of the exquisite fishing community of Cambrills . This beach has been popular amongst several of the locals living in the Salou area and is a nice option for the ones seeking a more serene environment. This is a more relaxed beach compared to the tourist-busy Llevant Beach . Formerly dubbed as the Ladies Beach, the sand here is magnificent and the beach is a little cleaner than most other Tarragona beaches.

Savinosa Beach

Savinosa Beach is situated between Rabassada and Playa Larga . This beach conveys a more confidential mood, which is simply perfect for the tourists who prefer to relax. Half of the beach provides accommodation to the patrons who wish to sunbathe in the nude. Therefore this is a great place to do away with the tan lines! The other half of the coast is just right for those wanting a little more breathing space. There s a shop to be found on the south end of the beach, hence completing the equation by providing cooling refreshments all summer long.
